Overview
This policy explains what helloangel.co.uk puts on your device, who puts it there, and what happens if you would rather it did not. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.
The short version: nothing is stored on your device by us until you say it can be. On your first visit a banner asks whether we may use Google Analytics; if you decline, it is never loaded, and we remember your answer so you are not asked again. There is one exception, and it is not ours: the map on our contact page is embedded from Google, and it loads whichever way you answer — there is more about it below.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They help a site remember your preferences, keep you signed in, and understand how it is being used.
Some cookies last only for your browsing session and disappear once you close your browser; others stay on your device for longer, so the site recognises you on a return visit.
The banner and your answer
The banner appears at the foot of the page on your first visit and has two buttons. Until you press one of them, Google Analytics does not load.
Accept loads Google Analytics, which sets the cookies listed in the next section.
Decline means Google Analytics is never loaded here. If you accepted earlier and have changed your mind, declining also deletes the Google Analytics cookies this site had already put on your device.
Either way we remember your answer in a small cookie of our own, angel_cookie_consent, so that the banner does not ask again for a year. It is written only once you have chosen — nothing is stored before that.
If your browser has JavaScript turned off, the banner never appears and no analytics load. The map on our contact page still does.
What this site sets
This is the whole list. There are no advertising cookies, and nothing here is used to build a profile of you.
Set by us. It holds one word — accepted or declined — and lasts a year. This is the cookie that stops the banner asking you again, so it is written whichever way you answer, and never before you answer.
Set by Google, and only if you accept. One is called _ga; the other has a longer name beginning _ga_ and ending in a code for this website. They give your browser a random identifier so Google can tell a returning visitor from a new one and count how often each page is read. They last up to two years. What comes back to us is a report about pages and visits, not about people by name.
Our contact page shows a map of where we are, embedded from Google, and Google may set its own cookies when that map loads. It is on that one page and nowhere else on the site.
Third-party cookies
Only one thing in the list above is ours: the cookie holding your answer. The rest belongs to Google — the analytics cookies, and whatever the map on our contact page sets when it loads. We decide which third parties to let in, and we have kept that list deliberately short.
We do not let any third party use cookies for advertising on our website. Nothing here is used to follow you around other sites, and we neither sell nor share what we collect with advertisers or data brokers.
Third parties decide for themselves what they do with what they collect, and we cannot change those terms on your behalf. Google sets out its own in the Google Privacy Policy.
Changing your mind
Your answer is remembered for a year, and you can change it whenever you like. There is no penalty for either answer: the site works exactly the same way regardless.
Your browser can also block or delete cookies for any site, including this one, through its own settings. For general independent advice, aboutcookies.org is a good place to start.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes in what the site sets, or for other operational, legal or regulatory reasons. The date at the top of the page shows when it was last reviewed.
